DRIVER | KEN BLOCK
DOB: November 21, 1967
RESIDENCE: Rancho Santa Fe, California
CAR: #43 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI
Ken Block has only been driving rally cars for a short amount of time, but his list of accomplishments read like that of a seasoned pro. In 2005, Block's first year of rallying, he was aptly named Rally America's Rookie of the Year. As his career continued, Block's speed and skill behind the wheel became apparent and he was signed by Subaru Rally Team USA in 2006. From there he went on to take Bronze at X Games 12 in Los Angeles, and 2nd overall in the 2006 Rally America National Championship. In 2007 he had another strong year, winning the Silver Medal at the X Games 13 Rally and finishing 3rd Overall in the Rally America National Championship. In just over three years Block has amassed 19 podiums and 8 overall victories.
Ken Block has gained worldwide notoriety for his exploits outside of rally competition, having successfully jumped his rally car 171ft for Discovery Channel's popular "Stunt Junkies" show in 2006. Then in 2007, for a segment in DC Shoes best selling Mtn. Lab DVD series, Block slid and jumped his rally car in the snow with pro-snowboarders at New Zealand's SnowPark. The session resulted in an epic Snowboarder Magazine cover shot featuring Block jumping his rally car alongside a pro-snowboarder, plus an amazing video sequence that was included in the closing of the DVD.

Over the years Ken has developed a long and reputable history in the world of action sports, not only as a passionate and accomplished skateboarder, snowboarder and motocross rider, but also as the co-founder of one of action sports most successful companies, DC Shoes. His success on the rally circuit is not a surprise for those who know this Southern California native. Growing up in the emerging action sports Mecca of Southern California, Ken became deeply involved in the sports that would later define his career, taking to skateboarding, snowboarding and motocross as most kids took to baseball and basketball.
Ken has been an integral part of DC since co-founding the company in 1993. With partner Damon Way, Ken began DC Shoes with a revolutionary philosophy for the skateboarding shoe market: skateboarders were athletes and needed shoes with athletic performance features. Ken and Damon grew the business from a small operation, making and marketing performance skateboarding footwear, to one of the leading companies in the industry that is distributed throughout the world. DC was acquired by Quiksilver, Inc., in May, 2004, making it part of a nearly $2 billion action sports family. Block now serves as Chief Brand Officer where he oversees the DC brand, look and feel in all its efforts.

Sports Business Journal also named him one of the most influential people of 2004 in their annual round-up of the top sports business company owners. Subsequently in 2005, Ken was recognized for DC's success when he won the trade journal's "40 Under 40" award. His footwear design direction also did not go unnoticed, and in 2004 Footwear PLUS nominated DC Shoes for an award for Design Excellence.
DC Shoes product line includes casual men and women's apparel, snowboard boots and outerwear, a full line of accessories, as well as women's, kids and toddlers skateboarding shoes. One of DC's newest products is a driving shoe developed by Block and Subaru Rally Team USA teammate Travis Pastrana. As one of the cornerstones of its marketing strategy, DC has built a world-class team of professional skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, BMX, motocross and rally athletes that exemplify and enhance DC's brand, develop its signature products, and support its promotional efforts.
Ken has carved out an ideal life that incorporates his personal dreams with serving at the helm of the leader in action sports footwear and apparel. He is one of a handful of successful businessmen who gets to wear jeans and a t-shirt to work every day. He also frequently conducts business out of his Utah home, dubbed the DC Mtn.Lab. It's there he can work on his computer in the morning, then literally walk out the door and snowboard to the private DC terrain park. It seems that Ken has been able to prove that following one's passions in life truly leads to success.
